In all honesty, one of my favourite moments in a wedding is the father/daughter dance. It's the occasion that you really see how much the bride's father admires her. It's a chance for emotions to show through.
The picture below is at a family wedding. Marisa, the bride, is the only daughter. She is also the third of three kids to be married off. The father of the bride, a very quiet and mild mannered Joe, is not used to the spotlight. You can see here how much admiration, how proud he is of his daughter - so much so that he doesn't seem to even notice that everyone is watching him dance...
Soon after this dance was finished, it was the groom's turn with his mother.
Randy cares for his mother very much...

Animals in Wedding Pictures
As an animal lover, I know there is a place for the treasured family pet in your pictures. Sometimes, however, that is not possible due to either the venue or the animal itself. I wouldn't recommend bringing your pet to the park or the reception, but there is time for a picture or two beforehand at the house before the ceremony.
Enter Pebbles. Pebbles is Nelly's dog. It's Nelly's wedding day. Pebbles decided that she wanted to be in the picture with the "girls". Pebbles walked in, plopped herself down on the dress, and voila - a star is born. She even looked toward the camera.
After a few shots, Pebbles left and went to go lie down - evidently her 15 minutes in the spotlight were done and she was going to take a well deserved nap. If only all pets could be this co-operative.
This is an example of leaving the pet in their environment. There we a lot of people around that day, but Pebbles and the two other dogs in the house had enough time to check everyone out and were comfortable in their surroundings.

It's all in the details
Sure, when you think of wedding photography, you think of the bride and groom, the vows, everyone in the bridal party posing in a park. But wedding photography also allows for some really creative and fun pictures. Take the following for example...
Just a simple shot while at the Bride's house - waiting for her to get ready. All the bouquets were lined up. Shallow depth of field and there you go.
We spend a lot of time planning our weddings, so it's nice to see the details captured - so much happens that day, and sometimes the little things get missed.
Flowers are a crucial part of the wedding ceremony. There's something to be said about a beautiful bouquet, full of exotic flowers. I like spring weddings best, because you can have much more fun with the fresh cut spring flowers - but then again there's nothing like a bouquet full of hibiscus or painted lilies like the bouquet above.

Birth of a Blog
This is my first blog entry for Place and Time Weddings. Place and Time came from a love of two things - photography and weddings. I stared out shooting weddings as a hobby, taking my own approach to the special days that friends and family enjoyed. I would take great pride in providing the happy couple with pictures from their wedding in a timely fashion, something to tide them over until they got their photos back from the photographer. At one point, one of my cousins suggested that I do this as a business - thus Time and Place was born.
